Anything Is Possible
Recently we have been doing some great things inside of the county jails. I really believe that the inmates are engaged and enjoy being there. However, in the back of my mind I must come to that realization that everyone from the outside looking in to a facility must. Not everyone that goes through our program are guaranteed success outside of the jails walls. This is either because of their previous convictions which in turn makes them revert to what caused their incarceration or a lack of support from friends or family.
I read an article about this person whom I hope most of the people who go through our life skills can relate to. His name is Ralphy Dominguez, he went from being a hot-headed inmate to a full-blown entrepreneur. He ran a drug ring generating over a million dollars a year. He took the skills he already had from his convictions and turned them into something positive and legal now making leather goods. Thus, creating a job for himself instead of going out there and facing an even slimmer chance at a living from a regular 9 to 5 job making someone else successful.
This article really inspired me because once again it tells me you can learn something from people from all walks of life. Even those that messed up somewhere down the line.
