Fond Farewell
This will be my last blog post as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Headwaters charitable trust. On Monday February 20th I will have completed my year of service. Over the past year I have learned a lot about citizenship, volunteerism, and the needs of a rural community. I have also grown both as a person and professionally.
The Living Greener program is one that I believe in. After I met with our participants and got to experience our first summer class I could see a direct impact on their lives and I knew our class could help others. Since then I am glad to say we have rewritten it from the ground up to really focus on the individuals we serve. I have also been involved with selling the program to the county jails here in the PA Wilds. Those classes starting in March will really expand our outreach.
While I might not be as involved going forward I still hope to get a chance to volunteer with Living Greener and to come to Headwaters Charitable Trust events. I thank you all, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You have welcomed me into your community. So much so that I am attempting to settle here and live in Elk County past my service term. If you have work that might suit a young professional in environmental science conservation here in Elk County and the surrounding region please contact me. rcalaway@sbcglobal.net or call me at 512-619-1841. Or hey just contact me period! I have made lots of friends here and I look forward to seeing you all again.
