Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween everyone! The VISTA team enjoyed the harvest season here in Elk County. We’ve been enjoying things like the mushroom festival in Benezette and making cider by hand with friends. The PA wilds is most beautifully decorated with the reds and yellows of fall. Take some time and have a drive out to the Allegheny reservoir or Cherry Springs State Park.
We were invited to Forster Farms where Tony D’amore hosted our bake sale to raise some funds for the Living Greener program. Tony is a local farmer who is out there every day selling the season’s crop, especially his pumpkins for Halloween!
With the colder weather, there are many indoor events springing up. I got to go to my first ever mystery theater hosted by Elk County Humane Society. It was a fun evening of costumes and murder!
Fall is the time to enjoy the year’s bounty. I have been doing so and I hope you are finding local events to attend too. Please keep in mind the work that goes into making a community a community. That’s why we are doing our Life Skills program at Living Greener. We want the next generation to establish a life for themselves here and can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
