What are the VISTA’s up to this week?
Our AmeriCorps VISTA team with Headwaters Charitable Trust have been slowly approaching our deadline to begin teaching our life skills course to inmates in Jefferson, McKeen and Elk county jails. I have been anticipating this event just to see how it goes. I can also say we are done with finalizing our curriculum and running through it so now we have even more confidence going in.
Last week the VISTA team traveled 2.5 hours to Allegheny College to meet up with the closest VISTA project, Lake Effect Leaders. We had a great time at Allegheny College engaging with other VISTAs who are doing awesome things. We couldn’t have gone at a better time to because I was starting to think I wouldn’t meet any other VISTA’s in Pennsylvania.
