How We Do It

Headwaters Charitable Trust's work is multifaceted and can only be accomplished through partnerships with community groups, foundations, businesses, technical advisors, landowners, and state and federal governments that share our vision and need our expertise.

Our roles and responsibilities vary by project, but in general, we assist with coordinating stakeholders, administering the implementation of projects, securing funding, selecting technical support, negotiating contracts, holding property easements or at times purchasing property and providing oversight and management from start to finish. Headwaters will write grants, hire local contractors, support local businesses through the purchase of materials, submit funding reports, track project budgets and participate in community meetings.

What We Do

At Headwaters Charitable Trust, we believe that ecological assets and communities are interdependent, and our mission is to empower communities to cherish their natural and cultural heritage while also providing them with access to green jobs and fresh, nutritious foods.
